Timbuktu Labs is looking for an Accountant in the LA Office. The Accountant at Timbuktu Labs is responsible for accounting tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monitoring credit card statements. The ideal candidate will have a proficient understanding of email systems, Microsoft Office suite, and QuickBooks. He or she will also be an excellent communicator with the ability to prioritize and stay organized.
- Manage domestic and international travel expenses
- Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Process royalties
- Monitor credit card statements and categorize bank transactions
- Research and correspond with tax and government agencies
- Provide accounting and inventory reports to department leaders
- Provide general administrative support
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience Requirements:
- 2-5 years’ experience with accounting tasks
- Experience processing royalties – preferably in the publishing industry
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills
- Experience with QuickBooks required
- Excellent attention to detail required

Timbuktu Labs is currently offering an editorial internship opportunity. The Editorial team works on a variety of initiatives including children’s books, a scripted podcast series, a digital magazine and licensed products. As such, we’re looking for an enthusiastic intern who would like to explore a range of creative opportunities, preferably with strong research, writing, and editing skills in addition to an interest in children’s literature. A proficiency in Google Drive, Asana, Airtable, and Dropbox would be a plus!
She will have a number of responsibilities which may include proofreading copy (including children’s books, podcast episodes, and digital magazine articles), evaluating manuscripts or articles, researching potential book subjects, aiding in submissions intake, sorting and sending out decline notices as needed, preparing sales materials, helping with mailings, attending meetings, and handling other administrative tasks.
The fall internship will begin on September 16th and end on December 20th.
For college credit only. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student in the NY area. 15-20 hrs/week. We will work with your school schedule!
