Position Summary:

Timbuktu Labs is looking for an Accountant in the LA Office. The Accountant at Timbuktu Labs is responsible for accounting tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monitoring credit card statements. The ideal candidate will have a proficient understanding of email systems, Microsoft Office suite, and QuickBooks. He or she will also be an excellent communicator with the ability to prioritize and stay organized.

Editorial Intern

Location: Astoria, NY office.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Timbuktu Labs is currently offering an editorial internship opportunity. The Editorial team works on a variety of initiatives including children’s books, a scripted podcast series, a digital magazine and licensed products. As such, we’re looking for an enthusiastic intern who would like to explore a range of creative opportunities, preferably with strong research, writing, and editing skills in addition to an interest in children’s literature. A proficiency in Google Drive, Asana, Airtable, and Dropbox would be a plus!

She will have a number of responsibilities which may include proofreading copy (including children’s books, podcast episodes, and digital magazine articles), evaluating manuscripts or articles, researching potential book subjects, aiding in submissions intake, sorting and sending out decline notices as needed, preparing sales materials, helping with mailings, attending meetings, and handling other administrative tasks.

TIMING

The fall internship will begin on September 16th and end on December 20th.

REQUIREMENTS

For college credit only. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student in the NY area. 15-20 hrs/week. We will work with your school schedule!

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH:

Acquires, negotiates, develops, and edits book projects for publication. Our Editor negotiates contracts, edits the books for content, structure and on a line-by-line basis, and collaborates with internal departments on how to package, market, and publicize the book.
  • Digital Editor
Dictates the creative vision for what an RG BOUNDLESS feature should be, delivers compelling and valuable content that will enrich our readers’ lives and influences the perception of our brand. She directs an in-house writer, assigns stories to a number of freelancers, and manages the digital budget.
  • Managing Editor
Manages in-house editorial process of making manuscripts into bound books. She is responsible for maintaining and modifying the production schedules, hiring and overseeing the work of freelancers (typesetters, copy editors, proofreaders), and final approval of all content.
  • Project Manager
The Project and Contracts Manager at Timbuktu Labs is responsible for all contracts and project management tasks. This role is crucial to the business and manages all company projects from planning to completion. This position will also manage contracts to include execution, renewal, and close-out, serving as the primary point of contact for contractual matters.
